Let's go dreaming

Recently I've been waking in the dead of night with a jolt!  Dreams about all sorts of random things have been making my subconcious home and since I'm such a giver... I thought I'd share...

*The other night, I conceived, carried to term, and delivered a wonderful baby boy.... no name though.  And for whatever reason we were all toasting with Apple Cider.

* I dream often that I'm falling and wake up just before I hit the ground... I think this one's relatively normal

* Last night I was a fairy in a far off land that needed to find the beanstalk.... no idea why the beanstalk was so important -- or why I could not find this giant stalk that climbs into the sky.

* There was the time when a giant bulldog was coming to get me and my family.  A bulldog the size of a house.  (This is very reminiscent of when I was 7 and dreamed a giant Barbie was trying to squash my family)

What do you dream about?  Any beanstalks?  Large Dogs of specific breed?  No?  If so, maybe we should get together and inspect these magic beans together -- maybe they're the key to eternal life..... We could be rich!!

Love,

Susie Q

Editor's Note: Obviously the lack of bread and milk has gotten to me -- someone please inform the doctors that I am not Cra-Cra.

Inspirations

Hello Peoples!

While I search for inspiration I thought I would just share some random facts with you....

1)  It's about 68 degrees outside today at 1PM.  I am supposed to be taking the dogs for a walk but want to just stay in a blanket and cuddle instead.  One would think 68 degrees was 32.

2) Up until about 20 minutes ago I was working furiously in my PJs :-)  #thejoysofworkingfromhome

3) I have discovered Cow cheese is not my friend.  I will now spend the next two days dreaming of all the bread I will eat on Thursday ...

4)I most likely will discover on Thursday that gluten is also not my friend....

** A side note, I'm actually feeling very positive about these discoveries.  Finding out means I know how to prevent it in the future.  That is great!  And there are so many alternatives now that I'm lucky to be discovering this now instead of 10 years ago!

5) Wedding Season is in full swing.  I am PUMPED to get some people married!

6) Fred and Ginger haven't come around for a few weeks.  I am hoping they moved on to warmer weather... since it's 32 degrees outside today.

7) The Dahlia is a really pretty flower.... and I just thought you might like to know.

That time I cooked with a witch

Have you ever taken a cooking class?

Neither had I... until there was a Groupon.  Then some of us decided what the hey?  It will be fun!  So we went.

I showed up and immediately knew it would be an interesting night when my friend met me in the parking lot and said we needed to go buy wine.  I trusted her, and really when have I ever passed up wine?  So we ran down to the package store down the road and picked up a couple of bottles of who knows what $8 or less and headed back to class -- that I was late for when I arrived in the parking lot the first time.

Yep....

Those are witches hanging on the ceiling.

Lots of them ... over 400 of them

 Creepy ones

But it was neat that we could watch what we were doing from the ceiling.

Ursala herself.

At best the food was dated.  Mostly processed, frozen, or caned foods heated and mixed together.  LOTS of salt.  But I did learn some great tips and tricks -- so all in all it was worth the $$.

What was your cooking class experience?

Saying Goodbye to the Office

Today is my last day of 9-5….
Well today will be 9-2ish
Because I don’t have much left to do

Last night we had our Christmas party that also turned into my going away party.

iPhone pic

It was really nice, and I was totally not expecting a goodbye party… much less a gift

But true to MNN, they were awesome and did both.

I got a very beautiful laptop case that I will now be using every day.
I will miss MNN and the people here.
They truly care about one another… a little family on the 40th floor if you will.

I’ll also miss our building.
It’s been my home away from home for 4 ½ years now.
And who wouldn’t enjoy walking into this prettiness every morning…

Or even better at Christmas time:

Plus, our building is a distinctive part of the Atlanta skyline.  Everywhere I go around the city I can see it and I feel like I’m home.

One day I’ll bring my kids to a Braves game and I’ll tell them, “Do you see that building with the two bell towers on top?  Mommy used to work there!”  They will be impressed, but only for a minute… then their Daddy will do something cool, because it’s a Braves game… and that will be that.

Fine, I'll do it all by myself :-)

Christmas Lists

Do you guys still put a pony on your Christmas list?

Mine has evolved... But it's really the same thing.

PS -- I love how he just comes right out and tells me he won't get me my pony!

Movember

Can we talk about this?
I am on the fence about my feelings
someone help me decide.

I feel it is important to raise money for any sort of health issue...

but I also feel mustaches are supremely creepy things.

Even George looks a bit creepy with the stache.
I am, however, completely OK with the new fad to have fake handlebar mustaches...
does this make me a hypocrite?
I think I'm OK with it anyway.

It is done

That's right!  I've been wanting to share this with all of you for WEEKS!!!  Husband and I have decided that I should pursue my passion, not to mention I was offered a snazzy partnership at the event coordinating firm I've been working with.  SO -- I quit my day job today.

This doesn't mean I don't show up tomorrow.  I gave 5 weeks notice.  So I'll be finishing out the year with my current employer, but it feels like a weight has been lifted.  My boss knows, so I can tell my bleeps now!

I will truly be sad to leave my position, but I am very excited about what this opportunity holds.  After all, not everyone gets to say they've got their DREAM JOB!  Starting in January I will move into a full time position as a partner in one of the top 3 event coordinating firms in Atlanta.  Until then I'll be balancing giving my current position all it deserves throughout the day and meetings on nights and weekends for the firm.

It will be a busy few weeks, but it will definitely all be worth it!

So there you have it, the reason for my silence.  Every time I've gone to post anything for the last few weeks I've just wanted to tell you all about this.... now I can, and I did, and we'll get back to our regularly scheduled randomness tomorrow. :-)

PS:  If you know anyone in the Atlanta area that's looking for a job as an Executive Assistant/Office Manager (plus many other roles) please let me know... but only if they're awesome... I have little time and need a super awesome person to take my place!

TGIF Ya'll!!!!!

OMG BLEEPS!

Were did the week go?? Seriously, I remember Monday, I remember thinking "wow, this week is going to be tough" and I remember Tuesday thinking "It should be Friday by now"  and then the rest is a blur. SO with that, I have almost nothing to write to you about.... So I wanted to share some random thoughts from the week:

1) If anyone ever types Friday three times consecutively do you automatically start singing the Black Eyed Peas in your head?  No? Just me?

2) In honor of Halloween, I've eaten a Reese's every day this week... just one... but could there be a more perfect taste than that?  Well, that or white chocolate covered pretzels....I need the molecular structure of these two things to change so they're as healthy as spinach.

3) Eating chocolate is good for you.  Apparently, I just skipped over the DARK chocolate part... Reeses needs to make DARK chocolate peanut butter cups

4) Did ya'll know milk has pus in it... so gross.  Raven did an awesome post on the benefits of being a vegetarian... I've been thinking about this for a long time, but this really makes me want to do a meatless day each week.... I wonder how that will go over with Husband.  Husband, are you reading? What do you think?

5) I've been in denial about the cold weather.  I feel like I was truly not ready for it this year... I want to fly away to someplace warm and sit on a beach and really take it all in... build a sand castle. You know, act like I'm 5, and on a beach, but not 5, because I'll be enjoying some cocktails.

6) My mom comes home next week from Argentina.  I'm SUPER pumped to see her... not so pumped to give her car back.  I took it again for one last round this week... I have to give it back this weekend ... bye bye SUV :-(

7) I have to run 11 miles this weekend on my training plan.  Do ya'll know how far 11 miles is?? It's a crazy long run!  Add in a sore hip and an ankle that's been just not right since last weeks run and I'm nervous.... ya'll I was not built as an athlete... I love the feeling when it's over... but going through it sometimes sucks. What do you do to break through your proverbial walls?

8) Would it be wrong to pin my own posts?  I totally want to pin some of my food posts b/c I think they taste so darn good!

9) We went to Blue Ridge a few weeks ago for family filled fun day.  Husband snapped these pics.  It was a beautiful day, if you're in the GA area, you really should go to Blue Ridge for a weekend!  They're the up and coming Highlands of Georgia.  You can rent a cabin here.  They are awesome and have the BEST cabins!!

Have a great weekend!!!  I've got something super fun to tell you... but you'll have to stay tuned!

Susie Q

Waffle Ears

Ya'll
Daisy STILL has an ear infection..

In both ears.

Poor Furbaby, we can't seem to make it go away
and not to be insensitive...
but it's getting very expensive.

I took her to the vet

She's so dumb

She likes the vet

Was terribly concerned about all the people on the other side of the door
and why they weren't petting her

So she came to me...
Pet me, Mom.

No?
I'll chase my tail.

Then she's back.

PLEEEEEEEAAAAAAASSSSSSSSE Pet me!

I give in.
She gets her ears cleaned
We go to the Festival in Funwoody
She gets new jewelry

And Hubby says I spoil MY dog....

Susie Q

Photog

Hey Ya'll!

So I've been researching photographers for a bride today  (when I'm done with all my day job work of course).

Makes me remember all I went through to find my photographer.

The hours I spent online looking at pictures, wondering if they were in our price range, not wanting to fall in love too soon, but hating to miss out if they WERE in the price range.

I feel for the brides, It's the most important thing (aside from the vows of course) that you take from that day, and one of the least guaranteed too.

You can't be SURE you're going to love your photog's pics.  You can only hope, based on their prior work.
They only get one shot too, which makes it hard.  If you don't like them, you can't just go back and take more.

I'm lucky to have loved my pics.  I know a lot of people who weren't so lucky though.
I'm lucky to be in the biz now, so I can help families through this process.

Makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Some of my favs from my day...
I gave our ring bearer a 18wheeler toy truck full of toy cars... entertained him all night = best $20 ever spent

*If you are getting married in Atlanta and want my help/or just the name of my Photog.  Contact me! This is not an advertisement post... but I'm always happy to help!

I have a shopping problem....

I don't like to do it.

This is not me...
I'm waaaayyy to cheap with my dollars, and I think all the pretty things are too expensive (for real??? an $80 shirt?????).  So I end up buying $20 mediocre things that I wear once or twice and then they either fall apart, or are no longer fun.......or I wait until things are on sale, but then all the pretty things are sold out in my size...

I need some new work duds though.  The last time I bought a lot of nice items at once I was in college.... and now none of them fit (they're too big -- bet you didn't see that coming!).

I know, terrible problem to have.

HELP, were do you think the best value for your money is?  Where do you buy your pretty things? I need Town & Country meets 20 something budget....

Does it exist?

Love,

Susie Q

PPPSS:

(This post is a continuation of this post)

Does anyone else ever get the desire to go to a Bridal Gown shop and try on dresses again... I think I picked too soon the first time.

I'd still have gotten my dress...

but it was only the 2nd I tried on....

I want to wear more pretty dresses...

like this number:
Oh to just put this on.....

It'd probably accentuate my hips anyway right?
Right

The Day I Discovered Our Dog Is An Acrobat

So last night I am sitting on the couch by myself.
Husband has gone to bed because he's tired...
I am still up because the TV has a hold on me... I MUST know what happened on Cake Boss this week!

I joke.

But it is what I was watching.

Anywho.  I'm sitting there minding my biz, watching the tube with my legs propped on the ottoman.  Thinking "this is sooo not worth losing 30 minutes of beauty sleep, but I just don't want to go to bed yet."

I have a tiny dog under my legs on the floor (he likes caves) and a very large dog next to my legs doing her normal contortionist act.  You see, she likes to have her rump in the air while her ear is to the ground and she is simultaneously playing with her bone/ball/kong... she's not discriminatory on the toy.

So I'm pretty much ignoring her.

Because it was cute at first, but now, I just REALLY gotta know what Buddy's saying on the tube.

But then something glorious happens.

Sweet Daisy's rump must have gotten a mind of its own because before she could figure out what she was doing to herself her little feet were in the air and on the ground again--- on the OTHER side of her head.

That's right my bloggie friends, Daisy did a somersault.  All by herself.

Then she ran away from the location of the accident and stared at it like it was somehow the carpet's fault she projected her legs over her head.

Momma couldn't be prouder. (as she cries she's laughing so hard)

Love,

Susie Q.

WOW

I've not posted all week...

My bad!

Well it's partially because there is not much to update the world on.

I worked ALL weekend last weekend.

It was wonderful, Glorious!

Everything went just the way it was supposed to....

aside from turning into a zombie for the first half of this week.

Hence no blogging

Fail.

my apologies

In other news:

While I was "bringing home the bacon", "earning some cheddar", "Making dolla, dolla bills ya'll"... (No?)

Husband was chillin like a villian playing some golf, doing laundry (thanks hubby!), watching football, and indulging in some beers....

Essentially being a man.

I like men.

Husband in particular.

That's all I've got for today folks!

Maybe my brain will un-mush itself by tomorrow....

Susie Q

Thankful

Oh how thankful I am today.

I have a great Husband who loves me so and is supportive and encouraging about pursuing my dreams.

A great steady job with a boss that's not too hard to work for.

A great opportunity with a wonderful, professional, and reputable company to pursue my dreams of planning weddings.

That Jesus spared me this weekend and did not let the forecast include rain for my first large on my own wedding... out doors... in the people's back yard... with large amounts of flowers, rentals, and food outside.  (You think I'm kidding, but I really am praising God for no chance of rain this weekend)

That the day will be mild, and the low will be cool enough that the party will move inside at a decent hour...

That all the vendors seem to know what they're doing

That my "assistant" for the night is one of the Partners in said company...

That my other assistant is my best friend

This is happening....

There are others on the books already.

I really am a wedding planner people!  Not just the assistant anymore!

Dreams can come true.

PS... I'll stop this eventually... it's just so surreal!

In other news

I'll be coordinating weddings all weekend.  Husband is playing Golf with my BFF's Husband cuz she's helping me... then Sunday both Husbands will sit on their respective couches and watch football for 10 hours...

Men

I love some football in my life, but watching the redzone channel for seriously 6-8 hours straight is mind-numbly boring to me...

of course coordinating weddings would probably not be something Hubs would put in his fun column either...

;-)

Fall?

I am stuck in a rut.

but it's not your typical rut

I'm not even sure "Rut" is the right word...

You see I'm reading all my bloggie friends' happy posts about how much they love fall and are so pumped for the season change.

I AM TOO, I LOVE IT TOO...

But it doesn't feel like fall yet.

The leaves haven't changed.  It's still 84* outside.  I can't wear any cute fall clothes (not to mention a lot of my clothes from years past are too big or given away -- so I gotta work on that...).  I just don't feel it yet...

October starts this weekend... it's the month of pumpkin everything.

I hope this gets me into the season because right now I just feel too hot for it to be fall, but to silly in beachwear.

I want to feel like it's time for these things...

So my mission next week (since I've got something on the agenda every day this week):

  • Make Pumpkin cookies
  • buy pansies for the flower pots (and plant said pansies) --- is it to late?
  • Find a scare crow for our stoop ... or something else fantastically fall that Husband will be OK with me spending dollar bills on.

PS -- We got a new carpet and I'm scared to vacuum it... daisy's already pulled a piece of it and I'm scared it's going to get stuck in the vacuum like the old one did... is that silly?

It's going to have to get vacuumed at some point right?

Friday Friday Friday

Oh hello Friday!

I've missed you! It felt like you were gone much longer than 6 days, please don't do that again

You like my title?  Really original right?

I've been awfully excited this week about all the TV premiers... unhealthily excited... I almost was an hour late to work today because I wanted to sit on the couch and finish the second hour of Grey's... but I was right on time because I smacked myself and got in the shower instead.

Litterally, hit myself in the face to wake up.

I did not sleep well last night. But when I went to hit snooze on my phone/alarm Husband rolled over in his sleep and stole my pillow right out from underneath my head!

I took it as a sign

went to cycle class

and felt great... until husband left and I had an hour to kill before I needed to get ready.

Enter Grey's. Followed promptly by no motivation to get off my couch.

No one tell me how it ends!  I'll probably get to watch it Monday after Husband leaves :-P

But I digress.

It's Friday, I've nothing profound to tell you.

I did do the Grey's Anatomy Name Generator

I'm McTasty

What are you?

Also:

Favorite Pin of the week:
I cried a little....such a sap

Love,

Susie Q
